Blog - Independence Day

15th August, a day when we wake up with huge enthusiasm of patriotism. Flag hoisting and national anthem in the air inculcates the pride in us as an Indian. Schools celebrate with parades, sports, cultural programs and motivating speeches emphasizing India’s journey towards Independence from the British rule. With tri-colour dresses, face paints, sweets and  bands, the entire nation celebrates the day with great pride and dignity.

But, let’s remember, as we are celebrating Independence Day today, somewhere at the very moment, there are activities happening which literally kills the meaning of Independence. So, are we really Independent India? Do we really have the right to celebrate Independence Day? Are we a country where we really respect each other?

Unfortunately NO!

We in Modern India, after 72 years of independence still struggle for basic freedom to live life. Freedom to walk around safely, Freedom to be literate, Freedom to lead a respectful life and all other basic fundamental rights. Year after year, we celebrate Independence Day but unfortunately we still do not have independence from the social evils. Rape, Kidnapping, Lack of education, Lynching, Riots in the name of religion, Trafficking, form the daily newspaper headlines. So how are we Independent?

It’s time for us to take the pledge of the day in True Sense.

Let us take a pledge towards :

  1. Respecting each other as fellow human beings
  2. Raising voice against crime
  3. Encouraging the right to education
  4. Encouraging empowerment
